The Eastern San Diego County Junior Fair (ESDCJF) was started
around 1947. The history of the fair spans locations across
Eastern San Diego County beginning in El Cajon, then moving to
Gillespie Field, and finally to its current home at the Eastern
San Diego County Junior Fair grounds located in Lakeside,
California. The fair has withstood the test of time and brings
together important skills and trades to provide a venue for
competition and exhibition to the members of 4-H, Grange, and Future
Farmers of America (FFA). It is a unique variety of livestock,
small animal and home arts shows where the exhibitors can
compete and families and community members can visit to see what
agriculture and the youth of 4-H, Grange, and FFA are all about.
Fair week culminates with the junior livestock auction where
exhibitors can sell their animals. Please see the auction
information if you are interested in attending the auction and
possibly purchasing an animal.
The fair is proud to be a non-profit organization supported 100%
through volunteer labor and fundraising. Their efforts are a
labor of love.
